Full version 6.3 is the registered version provided on CD-ROM and requires Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP/Vista.
Full version 5.2 is the registered version provided on floppy disks and runs on Windows 3.1/95/98/XP with 8 Mb or more of RAM.
Brother's Keeper is a shareware Genealogy program for Windows. It is available as a download to allow you to try out the features before you buy, but must be registered if you intend to keep using the program. The registered version comes with a manual.
Each database in Brother's Keeper 5 (BK5) can hold 1 million names, and in Brother's Keeper 6 (BK6) can hold 10 million names. Both versions have the ability to handle events, sources, pictures, message area for each person, find individuals by name/partial name/number, Gedcom import/export and splitting of databases.
They both have a number of reports which can be previewed on the screen before printing, including 4-6 generation/page ancestor charts, multi-page ancestor charts, descendant box charts and tree charts, custom lists, time line, birthday/anniversary lists and family groups sheets. They can also print a book with an index which can also be output in Rich Text Format to you word processor.
BK6 has a new file structure that allows for more and longer fields. It also has some additional features such as multiple sources for an event, structured sources, support for long files names, include pictures in more reports, include witnesses to an event, multiple names for a person and better name searching. It also has additional reports that take advantage of the new data fields. BK6 will convert existing BK5 files to its new file structure.
